A Letter From Kappa Alpha Theta

Hi Potential Members! Everyone down the row is so excited for recruitment to start! Going Greek has been one of the most fulfilling decisions and I cannot wait for you all to experience it!

The summer before my freshman year I was so anxious to start college, be on my own and meet new people! Coming from out of state (shout out to any Texas girls!) I had no idea what rush was going to be like nor did I prepare for that Louisiana heat and humidity haha. The week came up so fast! I had all of my outfits ready and I was looking forward to the parties starting! I’m at my first house, ironically it was Theta, the Gamma Chi yells “PARTY STARTS” and you hear all of these songs being shouted from the front doors down the row. Then you’re suddenly inside and having a full on conversation with a stranger! My best advice is to be yourself in these conversations, ask questions and don’t be nervous! The active members want to get to know you just as much as you want to know about their sorority!
When you’re not in the parties really utilize your Gamma Chi for advice! They are there

to help you through this experience because they have been on both sides. Another piece of advice is to not let other people’s opinions on different sororities affect how you feel about a certain house. Always keep an open-mind! LSU’s PHC community is one of the best in the south and each house is great in their own way. The saying that you truly end up where you’re meant to be is so true!
Coming into recruitment, I thought being in a sorority was going to be a lot of t-shirts, fun events, game day buttons and friendships. Now looking at it, it’s so much more than that! Being in a sorority is having friendships and an organization that guide you to be your best self. Recruitment is just the start to that. Really take time to enjoy it!

Helpful Tips: Bring an extra pair of sandals or flip-flops that are comfortable to walk in. ALWAYS check the weather because you never know when it will rain. Drink water!
Pack a tiny fan in your bag (honestly it works wonders!).
I hope you all have a great rest of your summer and I can’t wait to see everyone at recruitment! GEAUX TIGERS!
